The first born. The foundations of Peckham's were laid squarely at 43 Clarence Drive on a sunny day in 1982, when the original Peckhams shop opened its doors to the inhabitants of Hyndland.
Exciting news…we are refurbishing Clarence Drive Deli, but don’t despair, all the goodies and much much more in our Hyndland Road store. If the walk’s too much we have a selection of cheese, olives & deli items in our Wine Shop…do pop in, they’d love to see you.
WE ARE DUE TO RE-OPEN SUMMERTIME
When ‘’the livin’ is easy, probably the fish are jumpin’ and undoubtedly the cotton is high’’
At that time, selling unfamiliar products such as unbleached croissants and having strangely late opening times, the inhabitants and Peckham's developed a mutually beneficial relationship that has only prospered since then. Those who know the store will have noticed that, while the address has remained the same, the shop has in fact grown by taking on the neighbouring premises of Café Café (also a Peckham's baby) in 1997, to house its expanding range and accommodate its enduring popularity. Clarence Drive, affectionately named 'THE DELI' by members of staff and the Peckham's family, holds a special place in everyone's affections.
